DRUGSTORE VS HIGHEND ♡

One of the main questions to all beauty lovers out there is drugstore or high end makeup?  I find that each product is different and really its all down to personal preference. After researching a little on this topic, I discovered that in some cases there is in fact very little difference.

Obviously one of the major differences between the two is packaging. Many people (including myself!) may feel more drawn to prettier packaging and so are inclined to buy it. The price of 'flashier' packaging pretty much make up the extra cost so packaging really is what you're paying for! The brand 'Too Faced' is famous for its elaborate and beautiful packaging. Although the blushes from 'Too Faced' have  similar ingredients to those from a brand like 'Rimmel' the price difference could be  up to  €25. You can see why some people are willing to splurge a bit more on the packaging!!

Another factor of high end makeup is the 'brand name'. No matter what the product is nor how good it is people will be willing to purchase the brand name. For example, having a Chanel lipstick is more an indication of status than say a Maybelline lipstick!

One other difference which may seem small but is actually quite significant is fragrance. High end brands add fragrance to enhance user experience and to give their product extra 'luxury'. I have a 'Wet n' Wild' foundation which I love but unfortunately smells like paint during application. It is only €6 though so you get what you pay for. I have an 'Urban Decay' foundation which is a very similar formula to the 'Wet n' Wild' one but retails for €30! The high end foundation has a very pleasant smell however and makes it more the more appealing foundation to use!

To conclude it really is down to what you, as a makeup lover feel or what works for you. If you are on a budget,  remember that just because a product isn't 'MAC' or 'NARS' doesn't mean that it isn't good. There are plenty of dupes out there!!!
