These are some commonly used makeup techniques:

  • Contour: Contouring your face is to use a cool toned bronzing powder (or cream!) to define and sculpt the face. Usually you would apply contour to your cheekbones, the top of your forehead, your nose and your jawline.

  • Strobing: Strobing is when you apply highlighter (a light, shimmery powder) to the high points of your face such as then tops of your cheekbones, the tip of your nose, the brow bone and the cupids bow. Highlighter  attracts light, creating the illusion of brightness and height, hence that lit-from-within look.
  • Lip lining: When you line your lips with lipliner you can give the appearance of bigger, fuller lips while giving your lipstick and lipgloss something to adhere to. In order to line your lips you must use a lighter shade than the lipstick, you must ensure that the pencil is appropriately sharpened and you should never  drastically overline your lips.

There are also loads of new products to the market which have really upped the makeup game. With the use of makeup, you can change the appearance of your face shape and structure,  correct any blemishes or discolouring that you may be self-conscious of and you can most importantly make yourself feel 'prettier'. Makeup has an amazing power when used correctly and no one should ever feel embarrassed or ashamed to wear makeup.
